In science, we have been learning about the effects of heat on particles. To understand how particles get affected, we did experiments to demonstrate the motions of particles when heat is added. We did four experiments that showed conduction, convection, diffusion, and contraction.
Each experiment had a different effect:
- Conduction – When heat is added to a solid, the particles vibrate and thermal energy is transferred to neighboring particles. in the experiment, conduction is shown by sticking pins with petroleum jelly to a metal rod and heating one side of the rod with a bunsen burner
