What is te whare tapa wha?

Te whare tapa wha is a model of all areas of your well-being and hauora. Each side of the te whare tapa wha represents the four sides of Hauora, taha wairua (spiritual), taha tinana (physical), taha hinengaro (mental and emotional), and taha whanau (social).

How can you take care of your hauora and others?

Ways you could take care of your and others’ hauora is to carefully take care of each wall of the te whare tap wha, all sides are as important as the others. Your social well-being is all about having support and being able to talk to others. Being a person who is reliable and understanding can also boost someone else’s hauora. Spiritual well-being is not just about religion and beliefs but it’s your purpose in life and how much you value yourself. one way you could help your and others well well-being is to just support them so they feel like they belong. Your physical well-being is something that not only includes having to exercise but it is also what you eat and do to your body. Helping and encouraging others to try and eat healthy could also lead to being refreshed, however, doing too much exercise without rest is not ideal and could ruin this side of your hauora. Mental and emotional well-being is associated with your thoughts and what you think about. Having a growth mindset could help you block out negative thoughts and being positive towards others could also help them get things off their mind.

What does being assertive mean?

Being assertive is the same as being confident and not being afraid or frightened by others. It is also a positive mindset and having the ability to bounce back. Being assertive means being honest and to believe without doubt.
