Year 9 Athletics blog

In P.E. we have been learning and doing various athletic activities to prepare for the upcoming athletics day. We have been practicing the correct technique of performing new events. We have learned about discus and shotput.

I have chosen the event shotput to focus on. I have learned a range of facts and techniques to putt a shotput. firstly, you hold a shotput with three fingers and you have to make sure the ball is tucked so it is touching your neck and jaw. When you put it, your body must

be facing sideways, and bending your knees is ideal for creating more power.

During P.E. when we were doing the events, I showed simple respect that could’ve impacted someone’s hauora. I showed respect by not judging people on their abilities and tried to be understanding by cheering them on, even if they weren’t successful.

It is important to develop resilience because it is the only way you can improve. Having those abilities when experiencing both success and failure helps you achieve your goal.
